Season openers
Five programs, one opening weekend — where every Northside season stands

The fall season opened the way Northside likes it: loudly. Varsity football took the opener against Eastbrook 24–17 behind a defense that forced three turnovers, girls' soccer extended a streak nobody wants to jinx by naming it, and cross country sent both squads home with top-three finishes at the Rockville Invitational.
The numbers only tell half of it. Athletic director season previews used to live on a corkboard outside the gym; this year they live here, written by the people in the hallways. Every result in this issue was reported by a student who was standing on the sideline when it happened.
What to watch by November: whether the soccer streak survives the county schedule, and whether the freshman class keeps supplying varsity rosters at the rate it has since August.
